Univ-Rx origin

Univ-Rx is the Linux version of Univ-R (the digital workspace of the University Louis-Pasteur of Strasbourg developed by the ULP Multimedia department). It is the result of a call for projects launched by the French Ministry of Education to develop digital workspaces in universities. The purpose was to give self-service access to digital resources of the university and remote acces to these ones over internet. But also teaching workspaces for educational units.

Univ-Rx technologies

On the technological side Univ-Rx uses Debian for servers, NX protocol for remote access, JSP for the web interface, Java for the remote access client applet.

Univ-Rx remote access

The remote access consist on a java applet, which includes the open source NX protocol developped by Nomachine (www.nomachine.com). The application Univ-Rx is part of another university project EPPUN (French) and it must be available thru a web site whith single sign on capabilities. The applet can authenticate the user whith the implentation of a SSO component using CAS athentication (Central Authentication Services from Yale University). You can access to codes and documentations of the applet in this site too : http://ulpmm-projets.u-strasbg.fr/projets/applet-univrx/

Univ-Rx License

Univ-Rx is made under Gnu-GPL license, all the documentation and codes of the project are available on this site. There is two differents mailing list for the project :

univ-rx-dev@… for the developpers interested in this project
univ-rx-user@… for the users to exchange around usage.
